On the evening of Saturday, June 16, 2018, the Lord Our Father introduced another one of His Angels to His Eternal world.
Ms. Albertine Brailsford, quietly departed our earthly realm at her residence in Summerton, South Carolina. Born on April 14, 1934 in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Harriett C. McLeod Brailsford. “Alma”, as she was affectionately known as, received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.
During this time “Alma” excelled in sports, especially Basketball. She was reared in a faithful Christian home. “Alma” accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Briggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she was baptized.
“Alma” was a diligent worker, serving as a member of several auxiliaries, until her health declined. She was employed by Briggs Nursing Home in the Silver Community of SC, current known as Windsor Manor. There “Alma” worked as an ardent employee, where her career spanned for over thirty year.
She enjoyed cooking, fishing and had a passion for some “good ole’ down home singing”. “Alma” was loving, compassionate and a born caregiver with the strength of an Eagle. Having a contagious personality, people automatically grew more closely to her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. “Alma” leaves to mourn and cherish her loving memories, eight children; Emma L. Smith of Orlando, FL, John (Virginia) Brailsford of Baltimore, MD, Lavern Brailsford and Joycestine Brunson both of Summerton, Cassie (Michael) Cotton of Miami, FL, Ladunett Brailsford of Orlando, FL, Michael (Cassie) Brailsford (Caregivers) of the home and Toney Brailsford of Riverdale, GA; children reared in the home; Pat, Shirley, Joe “Son”, Anthony, Lynnroy, Louis, Levon, Lonnie and Shawn; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Annette Chandler of Paxville; one uncle, Levy (Vera) McLeod of Savannah, GA; a host of nephews, nieces, other close relatives, a special daughter, Maggie Montgomery of Summerton; special son, Trenton Shy of Ellenwood, GA and sorrowful friends. Special thanks to caregiver, Tammy Frank and Agape Hospice Care.
