Reverend Aretha Gibson-Johnson, Pastor
Annie Mae Simmons, was born in Summerton, South Carolina on April 1, 1933 to the late Cleveland and Mary Boiser Bowman. She exchanged her cross for her crown on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at McLeod Hospital in Manning, South Carolina.
She was married to the late Ivory Jones, then to the late Isaih Simmons. There was a total of nine children, one, Betty, preceded her in death.
Annie Mae attended the schools in Clarendon County, South Carolina. She was reared in a Christian home and she joined the Oaks African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and other auxiliaries in the church.
Annie Mae worked at Lake Marion Truck Stop for many years until she retired. She loved cooking and baking — especially her jelly cakes. To know Annie Mae was to surely love her.
