Mr. Charlie “Mountain Man” Brunson, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey, Sumter, South Carolina.
Charlie was born June 2, 1947 in Clarendon County. He was the son of the late Charlie and Jeanette F. Brunson. “Mountain Man”, as he was so affectionately known as, received his education in the public schools of Clarendon County.
Charlie resided in Summerton for many years and was employed with the company known as The Martin Brothers for 30 years until his health failed.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one son and one great-grandson.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Lou Bertha Brunson, of Sumter, SC; four sons — Charles (Shirley) Brunson, Charlie (Diana) Brunson, both of Sumter, SC; Theodore Dingle of Louisiana, and Conell Brunson of High Point, NC; three brothers — Robert Lee Brunson, Kevia Brunson, and Sam Brunson, all of Ft. Pierce, FL; six sisters — Mary Gibson, Evangelist Carrie McDonald, and Susanna (Will) Pearson, all of Summerton, SC, Oppy Black and Saddie Lawson, both of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Alma Ruth Brunson of Atlanta, GA; four sisters-in-law— Eva Fraiser, Catherine Hines and Charlotte Dingle, all of Summerton, SC, and Annie Mae Dingle of Manning, SC; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Brunson of Manning, SC; a very special nephew, Ralph Filmore; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
