On Saturday, February 24, 2018, our LORD, gently whispered in her ear, “Come, lay down your burdens, and walk with me Ellen “Ea” Dyson’s, as he took hold of her hand and she departed our midst at McLeod Health Clarendon in Manning, South Carolina.
Ellen, affectionately known as “Ea” & “Nell”, was born in Clarendon County. She was a beloved daughter of the late Quincy Sr. and Dorcus Ragin Dyson. Her education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County
At an early age, Ellen joined Historic Liberty Hill AME Church. Later on, she moved to White Plains, New York seeking a more independent life style for herself & family. During her endeavor, Ellen met and became employed by the Menke Family in Scarsdale, New York, as a Domestic Housekeeper for more than forty years. The Menke’s family had immeasurable love for her; their home became her home, away from home. While in White Plains, she joined Mt. Hope A.M.E. Zion Church. Ellen was a fervent worker, serving as a member of the Deaconess Board, Stewardess Boards, Life time member of the Missionary Society, Class Leader and Pastor’s Aid Society. In the early 1990’s, Ellen relocated back to South Carolina and reunited her membership with Historic Liberty Hill A.M.E. Church. She was devoted member and served faithfully on several auxiliaries. Ellen was a diligent servant of God, she continued attending services during illness, with the aid of nephews and nieces.
“Ea” had a passion for sewing and redecorating her home.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was also preceded in death by brothers, sister and other relatives.
There are many, many fond memories to be cherished by all who know “Ea”, especially by her, god-children, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and cousins.
