Gardenia Susan Parker, more affectionately known as “Tootie”, was born August 19, 1947, in Rimini, South Carolina. She was a daughter of Mrs. Ethel Hampton Parker.


On Monday, April 29, 2019, Gardenia finished her good fight at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey.


She attended the public schools of Clarendon County and graduated from Scott’s Branch High School, “Class of 1965”.Gardenia furthered her education at Bloomfield College, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management; a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Kean University.


She was employed with AT&T and retired after more than 20 years of devout service. Thereafter, transitioned into a new career as a beloved Special Education Teacher and was employed with Dr. Antonia Pantoja School No. 27 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. As a teacher, Gardenia will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her students.


She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ethel Hampton Parker; three sons, Brodus, Baldwin, and Darnell; grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie and Lendell Parker; four sisters, Lelia Barlow, Ethel Barnes, Reverend Theola Parker, and Geneva (Ray) Mitchell; a host of other loving relatives and friends.


Gardenia was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian D. Walters.
