Mr. James “Nonie” Walters was born January 4, 1951, to the late John Walters and Louise Walters of St. Paul, South Carolina. On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, James passed away. He attended the public schools in Clarendon County and relocated to Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 17, James landed a job at Oxford Nursing Home in the maintenance department.
“Nonie” retired from Oxford Nursing Home in 2013, after 40+ years of service. Being the man that “can’t sit still”, he was not ready to live the retired life, so he kept busy by fixing cars, houses and just tackling anything that he could fix. He even put an addition onto his mother’s home. James had the remarkable talent to diagnose, fix and design any mechanical, maintenance or house issue. He was a true handyman.
“Nonie” was preceded in death by his parents, John Walters and Louise Walters; one nephew, Charon Walters, two brothers, Harry Lee and Joseph Walters, and one sister, Deloris Walters.
Left to cherish his wonderful memories are his three children, daughter Robyn Walters and son Kory Walters, both of Baltimore, Maryland and, daughter, Adriane Barber of Brooklyn, New York; eight siblings, Joanne Walters, Cornell (Edna) Walters, and Charlie Parker, all of Summerton, South Carolina, Willie (Josephine) Walters of Kernersville, North Carolina, John (Patricia) Walters, Emmanuel (Joan) Walters, Perry (Gardenia) Walters all of Brooklyn, New York, Geneva (Burley) Clark of Willingboro, New Jersey; one uncle, William Livingston of Summerton, South Carolina; one aunt, Claudia Livingston of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
