2 Timothy 4:7 — “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.”
Today, we pay tribute to the memory of the one who endeared herself in the heart of her family and many friends, Mrs. Joretha “Gal” Wilson Pressley.
Mrs. Joretha “Gal” Wilson Pressley, wife of the late Wesley Pressley, departed this life on Monday evening, February 15, 2021, at McLeod Regional medical Center, Florence, South Carolina. Born, May 12, 1933, in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Elizabeth Wright.
Mrs. Joretha was reared in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina.
Mrs. Joretha had a love for the church. There was not a Sunday that you opened the church doors and did not see her bright, shiny smile. Even when the church van moved, she was on it. She faithfully volunteered her spare time to Emmanuel Methodist Church, Sumter, South Carolina, feeding the homeless for many years. But when it came to enjoying herself, she would turn on the TV and watch a good movie or just get into her car and take a long ride into the country, park and enjoy the scenery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Pressley, and sister, Angeline Billups.
Mrs. Joretha leaves to cherish her precious memories, one daughter, Eartha (Nate) Brunson of Sumter, SC; one sister, Beatrice Major of Baltimore, MD; one granddaughter, Merinyth Pressley of Charlotte, NC; one grandson, Franco Pressley; four great-grandchildren— Cam Johnson, Chase Johnson, Franco Pressley, Jr., and Christian Pressley; a loving niece, Elizabeth Sweat; and a host of nieces, a nephew, cousins and friends.
