Lionel Stukes died on Thursday, January 17, 2020 at Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, NY.
He was born July 11, 1946, in Summerton, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Ladson Babe and Katie-Lawson Stukes. He received his education in the public schools of Clarendon County.
He is preceded in death by 21 siblings. He joined Historic Liberty Hill AME Church at an early age. He moved to New York City to become a part of the professional world.
After years of hard working, he and his three brothers got together and created a social club for relaxing and fun.
Lionel was always a sharp dresser and no words could describe his dance moves. Stepping was his thing. Lionel was a kind-hearted person with a indescribable charming smile that can cut through any obstacle.
Lionel leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Lionel Stukes, Jr., of Bronx, New York; four sisters, Ethel M. Stukes, March Stukes and Katie Bennett, all of New York City, and Roshell Stukes-Glover of Lumberton, North Carolina; two brothers, Marion Stukes of Bronx, New York and Lester Bennett of Summerton, SC; a favorite niece, Tarressa “Reat” Stukes, of Summerton, South Carolina and favorite nephew, Fabian Stukes, of New York City; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
