Mrs. Odessa Diana Drayton Williams was born in Eastover, South Carolina on October 28, 1930. She was the youngest daughter of the late Reverend James P. Drayton and Rosa L. Mitchell Drayton Robinson. On Monday, May 27, 2019, in a whisper, God called Mrs. Odessa Diana Drayton Williams, to rest in His loving arms.
In her early childhood, she was educated in the public schools of Eastover, South Carolina. As a youth, Odessa attended Shiloh Elementary School, then onto Webber Junior School and graduated from Schofield High School in Aiken, South Carolina.
She was employed with Horsman Dolls, State of New Jersey Labor Department and State Hospital in Trenton, New Jersey for many years.
Odessa was joined in Holy Matrimony to Neil Spearman, who predeceased her; this union shared two children, Diane B. Drayton and O’Neal A. Spearman. In later years, Odessa married Lester Williams who also preceded her in death.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who would move mountains for her children. Odessa was known for being humble, free spirited and gave unconditional love. She mastered her talents in knitting and crocheting. Odessa in her leisure, often took her children bowling, which she too enjoyed. Odessa was an awesome understanding, caring Mom and the true / genuine definition of a real friend to her friends. She was very family oriented.
Mrs. Odessa D. Drayton Williams leaves to cherish her loving memories her children, Diane B. Dayton (Donald Inman) and O’Neal (Michelle) Spearman both of Trenton NJ; three grandchildren, Bryant Rhodie of Trenton NJ, Akua Hearne-Sutton of Philadelphia PA and Ahmad Hearne of Las Vegas NV; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Dash of Columbia and Beatrice Gillespie of Lake Worth FL; one brother, Woodrow Drayton Sr. of Columbia; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
