Our beloved Mr. Robert Lee Stukes exchanged his rugged cross for a crown on the morning of April 23, 2020 at Windsor Manor Nursing Home. He was born September 10, 1937 in Clarendon County; the son of the late Zuline Stukes-Carter and step-son of Samuel Carter, Sr.
Robert received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. Robert enjoyed life and worked hard in the construction field which led him to travel from city to city, state to state. After years of working, he decided to settle in Baltimore, Maryland for many years before moving back to his home town of Davis Station, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Charlie and Samuel Carter, Jr.
Robert leaves to cherish his life’s memories, three sisters — Rosaline Marshall, Gloria Rantin, and Deborah Carter Johnson; one brother, Harold “Pop” Carter; a devoted cousin, Charles Doughty; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
