On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, God was working in his garden and collected a special rose, our beloved Ruth Ann “Betty” Wilson.
Born on September 7, 1940; she was a daughter of the late Ida Bennett-Williams and Henry Fludd.
“Betty”, as she was affectionately known, received her formal education in Clarendon County.
“Betty” had a great passion for fishing, cooking, wrestling and caring for others. She exemplified a life of love and concern for everyone, especially for family and it made her job more fulfilling as a caregiver until her health failed. To know her was to love her.
Ruth was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Henry Wilson.
Her memories and good deeds will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She leaves behind two daughters, Angel Wilson of Jacksonville, FL and Latonya Gipson of Columbia, SC; one son, Lonnie Wilson; six grandchildren, Kiara Johnson, Anthony Hicks, Travis Foster, NaKyrah Gipson, Yeru’salem Rhodes, and Yaqauir Rhodes; one great-grandchild, Lauryn Hicks who loved her “super nice” “Grandma Betty”; one brother, Thomas Bennett of San Francisco, CA whom she loved dearly; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. One special friend - her best friend, Katie Mae Jones.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was also preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Isker and Carlisle Bennett.
