Rev. David Lawson, Officiating

Mr. Willie Mood Mellerson, Jr., affectionately known as “Buck” was born on August 14, 1942, in Summerton, South Carolina, to the late Willie M. Mellerson, Sr., and Elouise David.

Willie was united in marriage to Permease “Nee” Fulmore, and from this union he was blessed with two children — Willie Jr., and Rochester “Cookie” Mellerson.

At a very young age, “Buck” was taught the word of God and that he should always make time for God, and go to church, even if he had to walk. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. “Buck” was a faithful member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He loved singing with the Male Chorus and to fellowship with his brothers and sisters in Christ.

“Buck”, was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mood Mellerson, Sr. and Elouise Davis, his reared mother Isadora “Muz” Davis, his children — Willie Jr. and Rochester “Cookie” Mellerson; four siblings — Leon and Sam Mellerson, Mivens Thames and Ohilian Jackson; his grandparents, Sam and Annie Mellerson; and his companion Renia “Peggy” Brunson.

“Buck” leaves to cherish his fond memories three children: Joann Miller of Augusta, Ga., Betty and Mack Miller, both of Columbia, SC; three sisters: Mary (Gordon) Mansfield of Philadelphia, PA, Lillian Georgia of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Eva Briggs of New York; two brothers: Eugene Mellerson of Florida and Joe “Son” Davis of Georgia; four grandchildren:  Katrina and Kashanna Miller, both of Manning, SC, Quantajia York and Joquan Miller, both of Columbia, SC; three great-grandchildren: America York, London Hilton and Legend Hilton;  a devoted cousin, Maggie Montgomery; a close friend, Moses “Bubba” Briggs; and someone he loved dearly as his own daughter, Mary “BaBa” Campbell.; three nephews, ten nieces and a host of cousins and friends.
